Callie & Zach | A Spring Wedding at The Barn at Sitton Hill Farm
April in the upstate has this soft, golden light that shows up right on schedule every spring, and it stuck around all day for Callie and Zach. Their wedding at The Barn at Sitton Hill Farm leaned into that: open fields, white columns, a brick path winding past old oaks, and a color palette of powder blue and white that never felt overdone. Honestly, it just felt like them.
The Morning Of
Callie got ready surrounded by the people who'd been with her for this whole ride. Her mom knelt down to help with her shoe, her flower girl sat on the sofa getting her hair fussed over, and her bridesmaids in soft blue robes were laughing somewhere just out of frame. Nearby sat a little collection of personal things: her grandmother's pearls, an invitation suite with a watercolor hydrangea design, her shoes set next to the rings.
In the groom’s suite, Zach and the groomsmen were doing their own version of getting ready, which involved a lot less primping and a lot more pool. They knotted ties in a wood paneled room with a billiards table right in the middle of it, while his dad straightened his boutonniere.
The first look was one that did not leave a dry eye. Callie’s dad was completely overcome with emotion when he saw his little girl ready to marry the man of her dreams.
The Ceremony
The ceremony site doesn't need a lot of dressing up. Just open green fields behind a simple wooden cross decorated with white and blue flowers, with a brick path leading guests to their seats. Callie's bridesmaids walked down in dusty blue, her flower girl tossed petals ahead of her, and her dad walked her the rest of the way. They said their vows under that cross with the whole farm stretched out behind them, and the recessional was loud. Fists in the air, guests up out of their seats. The perfect ending to a wonderful ceremony.
The Reception
Inside the barn, the long farm tables were set with pale blue runners, gold flatware, and tall arrangements of white and blue hydrangea. Elegant, but not trying too hard, which kind of summed up the whole day. The dessert table matched the palette completely: ombre blue cupcakes, a simple round cake with a laser cut "Evatts" topper, and chocolate dipped strawberries under a hand lettered "Love Is Sweet" sign. And true to form, the guys made their way back to that pool table at some point during the party. Of course they did.
Congratulations, Callie and Zach. It was such an honor to be there for it, and days like this are exactly why we always encourage our couples to put their favorites into a printed album. Screens fade and phones get lost, but a beautiful book on the shelf is something you actually pick up and revisit for years to come.
